A special street called “Demalys Promenade” will open in Nur-Sultan this weekend
On June 12, the cozy pedestrian street “Demalys Promenade” will open in the capital of Kazakhstan. This was reported on the official website of the city administration.
The pedestrian zone stretches from Mambetov Street to Old Arbat. The project will be launched as part of the “Nur-Sultan—A Cozy City” master plan. Every weekend throughout the summer, the area will host performances by creative groups, concert organizations, and theaters from Nur-Sultan. On opening day, from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., residents can enjoy entertainment programs for adults and children.
The pedestrian zone begins at the entrance arch, and a stage for performances will be set up at the far end. Further along the pedestrian street, there will be a covered shopping and exhibition area. There will also be artist corners, as well as areas where visitors can play chess and traditional games. Unique art installations, bar tables, and photo zones will also be set up.
“As part of the implementation of the ‘Nur-Sultan: A Comfortable City’ master plan, at the direction of the capital’s mayor, Altai Kulginov, certain areas are being separated from the public space and courtyards. One of these is the ‘PROMENAD’ recreational area. This has created yet another attraction for our residents and visitors. I am confident that the historic part of our city will become even more interesting. At the beginning of summer, a section of “Theater Boulevard” on Z. Omarov Street (from Republic Avenue to M. Auezov Street) was opened. Repair and restoration work is also underway on the Esil River embankment. There will be interesting recreational areas there, as well as a bike path from the “Atyrau” pedestrian bridge to the Kabanbay Batyr Bridge. In addition, repair work will be carried out on the sidewalk section of Republic Avenue, from the Samal microdistrict to Goethe Street, and four public spaces will be built. “All of this work is being done for the residents, for their well-being and leisure,” noted E. Bayken, Akim of the Saryarka District of Nur-Sultan.
This new leisure and recreational space for the whole family also features nighttime lighting—lighting consoles, string lights, and garlands. To make evening strolls more enjoyable, a lighting ceremony will be held. The facades of some buildings are adorned with graffiti, as are the structures set up for the graffiti festival.
